PURPOSE:To facilitate starting on a sloping road, in a manually-operated transmission for a vehicle provided with a subspeed change mechanism. CONSTITUTION:A main speed change gear train Gm is provided between a gear shaft 13, supported to an input shaft Ms and connectable thereto by a hydraulic clutch 14, and an output shaft Cs, and a subspeed change gear train Gs of reducing a rotational speed of the input shaft Ms made transmittable to the gear shaft 13 and a one-way clutch 39 for permitting an overspeed in a side of the gear shaft 13 are provided on a subshaft Ss. By forcing the hydraulic clutch 14 engaged at the time of starting on a sloping road, a torque lock is generated between the input shaft Ms and the subshaft Ss by torque reversely transmitted to a transmission from a drive wheel, to prevent a vehicle from descending the sloping road against intention of a driver. When the input shaft Ms is forwardly rotated by engaging a speed change clutch C, since a lock is automatically released, the vehicle can be started without performing brake operation. |
