PURPOSE:To obtain a graphitic thawing plate, composed of a formed graphite material having a specific apparent density, a specified average pore diameter and a specific porosity and capable of quickly, sanitarily and naturally thawing a frozen preserved substance at ordinary temperature. CONSTITUTION:The objective graphitic thawing plate is composed of a dense molded graphite material formed by kneading fine graphite powder having, e.g. <=20mum diameter with a readily graphitizable binder such as pitch, molding the resultant kneaded material into a platy form with a rubber press, etc., then burning and carbonizing the formed body in a nonoxidizing atmosphere and further subjecting the carbonized formed body to graphitizing treatment at >=2000 deg.C. The dense molded graphite material has <=1.7g/cc apparent density, $5mum average pore diameter and <=20% porosity. Furthermore, the surface of the thawing plate is preferably coated with a resin such as a urethane resin to form a thin film. |
