PURPOSE:To ensure that a sharp image is recorded using even a very small amount of printing energy by preparing a support consisting of a thermal plastic resin film attached to the surface of a thermal plastic resin film containing inorganic fine powder as a base layer, and a thermal recording layer formed on the support, and specifying the inner and outer layers and thickness of the film in terms of proportion, as well as the physical properties of the support. CONSTITUTION:A support A consists of a biaxially stretched film of a thermall plastic resin containing 10 to 45wt% of inorganic fine powder as a base layer (a) and a surface layer (b) of a monoaxially stretched resin film of thermal plastic resin attached to the surface of the base layer (2). In addition, a thermal recording layer B is formed on the surface layer (b) of the support A. Further, the physical properties of the support A are adjusted to meet the following conditions: 1) the thicknesses of an inner layer b<2> and an outer layer b<1> which constitute the thermal recording layer B on the surface layer (b) of the support A are equal to 97 to 60% and 3 to 40% respectively to the layer (b). 2) the thickness of the layer (b) is equal to 0.5 to 3.0% to the entire thickness of the support A. 3) the density of the support A is 0.80g/cm<2> or lower, the opacity is 70% or higher, the coefficient of compressibility to the stress of 32kg/cm<2> is 15 to 35%, and the Beck's degree of surface smoothness is 500 to 8000''. |
