PURPOSE:To prevent the leakage of ink from a communication port with air, a contamination with ink inside a device, and the adhesion of ink at the replacement of an IJC, by a method wherein a non-printing state, delivery ports and the air communicating port of an ink containing part are sealed with two capping means, and upon recovery of suction, the ink containing part is released to the atmosphere. CONSTITUTION:In a first capping means, a cap lever 20 falls into a groove part of a first cam 22a, a support lever 19 rotates to move a cap fixing member and capping members 16, 14 to a recording head, and the member 14 seals an orifice part of a recordng head 1b. Next, in a second capping means, an open/close pulley 65 is rotated by the rotation of a recovery gear 29, and an open/close pin 61 is extruded in a direction (m) to seal a communication port 8 of an ink containing part 1a. On a suction recovery command, a carriage 3 provided with an IJC is moved to a non-printing position 6 or returned to a standby position and conducts a printing completion action. At this time, in the second capping means, the open/close pin 61 moves in a direction (n) to separate from the communication port 8, and the ink containing part 1a is released to the atmosphere. |
