PURPOSE: To improve a method for deciding aerial wavelength of a light source. CONSTITUTION: Relating to method and device for deciding and fixing aerial wavelengthλL of a light source 1-laser diode or Nd-YAG ring laser-by a stabilizing-control circuit 1 and Fabry-Perot interferometers, 3, 301, 305 and 130 filled with air, in order to eliminate ambiguity, an approximate value of aerial wavelength is decided from thermodynamic parameter TL, P, rF of surrounding air, 230, a part 3, as required, of control circuits 1, 3, 301, 305, and 130 and TF, and with Edlen formula, rounded to the closest multiple of whole number of FSR, so that a strict aerial wavelengthλL is decided. Thus, method for application to, calibration of a length measurement interferometer is obtained.
