PURPOSE:To construct a printer of a low-cost motor by a method wherein heat generation is limited by switching a current limit value of a carriage motor. CONSTITUTION:A heating state of a carriage motor 8 of a serial printer equipped with the carriage motor 8, a carriage motor-driving part 6 which operates regularly or reversely and stops the carriage motor, and a current- limiting part 9, is monitored with a thermosensitive element 13 and a temperature-detecting part 14. When not less than specific temperature is reached, a heating value of the carriage motor is restrained by switching setting of a current limit value of the current control part 9. |
