PURPOSE: To simplify structure and to compensate changes of system parameters by determining delay time of a desired engagement time of a fluid operated torque transmitting device, and so controlling it that a shift is completed after the time corresponding to the delay time passes. CONSTITUTION: A transmission has a friction clutch 12 for conducting shift of a pair of forward speed ratios and a hand brake 14. They are driven and controlled by a control element array 10 that includes a hydraulic pump 16, a hydraulic pressure regulating valve 18, a hand operated valve 24, 2-3 shift valve 26, servo 28 for clutch, a fluid throttle loop 30 and a hand operated servo 32. In this case, the fluid throttle loop 30 for controlling oil pressure supplied to the chamber 82 of the hand operated servo 32 is constituted with a first orifice 80 and a flow control valve 84. At a high flow state, the shift is initiated, after a delay time of a desired engagement time of the hand 14 passes, the flow control valve 84 is activated to the low flow state to complete the shift. |
