PURPOSE:To make large quantity sheet feeding with good easiness in handling by furnishing a side fence to restrain the stacked sheets in the direction across the width, and providing a pair of trailing edge holding means which are capable of swinging oscillatively. CONSTITUTION:A sheet feed device is composed of a first tray 1 on which a plurality of sheets are placed, a second tray 2 installed approx. on a level with the first tray 1 and capable of drawing out from the device body in the direction approx. 90 deg. to the sheet transportation, and a transport means 24 which transports the sheets on the second tray 2 in a lump to the first tray 1. A large quantity of sheets are transferred in lump from the 2nd tray 2 by a mobile type back fence 24 to the first tray 1 which feeds one by one the sheets stacked by a sheet feeding means. To prevent skew, the first tray 1 is equipped with a pair of side fences 12, 13 to restrain the stacked sheets in the direction across the width and a pair of back fences 15, 16 which can swing oscillatively round a fulcrum. During transite of sheets, a rotary solenoid is actuated to move the back fences 14, 15 to outside the transport path. |
