PURPOSE:To achieve a high quality in printing by a method wherein a strong electric field is applied from a jet nozzle toward a recording medium and an electric field having a smaller absolute value is applied almost in time when ink begins to be spouted from the jet nozzle and spouted ink separates into main drops and satellites. CONSTITUTION:A resistor 2 of a head main body 1 serves as an electric heat exchanger and when a voltage is applied to the resistor 2 by a resistor driving circuit 3, ink drops 4 are spouted from a nozzle 10 by the heat generated at the resister 2. A first electrode 6 is in electrical contact with ink 5 in the head and a second electrode 8 is provided on the rear of a recording medium 7, so that a space having a distance (d) is formed between the first and second electrodes 6 and 8. A strong electric field is applied to the ink 5 in the space when ink 5 begins to be spouted, and then an electric field having the same polarity as the strong electric field and a smaller absolute value than the strong electric field or having an inverse polarity to the strong electric field is applied almost in time when the spouted ink separates into main drops and satellites. Thereby, the main drops are accelerated and the satellites are prevented from returning toward the nozzle, so that a high quality of recording can be achieved. |
