PURPOSE: To provide a blood counterflow preventive device useful as a blood unflowing-out catheter assembly by constituting so that a liquid passage terminating in the vertical direction in a valve element is directly communicated with the upstream end of a housing and is extended from the valve element. CONSTITUTION: A catheter assembly 10 has a catheter 12 extending toward the skin 16 and a blood vessel 14 of a patient. In this case, the catheter 12 extends toward the lower end 22 of a housing 20, and terminates at a needle assembly 25 having a needle hub 26. In the housing 20, a downstream end hole 24 extends toward the upstream end 30, and is opened in a central passage 32. The needle hub 26 also has a hollow needle 34, and this is coaxially arranged in a first sleeve of a valve, assembly 38. On the other hand, the first sleeve terminates in a valve element 42 extending by crossing its inside diameter. An actuator 50 is arranged so as to be adjacent to the upstream end 54 of the housing 20, and extends to the central passage 32 adjacently to the valve element 42.
