The invention concerns a production line for the machining of workpieces (4) which, together with a carrier, are moved in unison from a first machining station (I) to the next and from the last machining station (VI) to an output station (A'). In order to optimize the operating sequence, the invention proposes that the carriers are workpiece-carrying chucks (13) which fit into each machining station (I - VI) and which are moved in unison by means of individual grippers (42 - 48), each gripper moving back and forth between two adjacent machining stations. Also fitted is a chuck-return device (16) which extends from the output station (A') to the feed station (A), all the machining stations (I - VI) being associated with an interrogation device designed to determine the rotational attitude of the chuck (13). |
