Parallel capillary tubes (12 to 17) are inserted in grooves in the surface of a panel (10) made as a mineral based, bonded panel, e.g. a gypsum panel, to form a heating or cooling panel. Superimposed on the grooved surface, is a thin steel plate having good heat conducting contact with the tubes, to form a strong composite assembly. The thin plate is shorter than the gypsum panel, leaving an uncovered zone for a collector tube (23) across the panel, connected to the capillary tubes. Instead of a steel plate, a corrugated strengthening panel can be used, based on paper, steel or aluminium. The panel or plate can be secured by adhesive or screws. USE/ADVANTAGE - For walls,ceiling,or floors,with a facility for dense location of the capillary tubes and concealed connection of feed a return pipes.
