The invention relates to an arrangement for coupling light into and out of a waveguide (2), in particular for integrated optical chips (1). The arrangement according to the invention has inclined end faces (3; 4) at the end faces (3; 4) of the waveguide (2) of an integrated optical chip (1). The coupling in and out of the light is performed from the underside of the chip, for example via a graded-index rod lens (5). The light is focused onto the inclined end face (3; 4) and reflected into the waveguide (2).
