A security device 10 for attachment to a front or rear windscreen, for example, of a vehicle comprises a display panel 11 which is rectangular and which displays the registration number of the vehicle. The display panel 11 is formed with a cut-out portion 14 which can be removed and replaced by the user of the vehicle. When the user leaves the vehicle, the cut-out portion is removed by the user and taken by the user.
