Roller blind fabrics are made from a textile web of natural fibres, coated with a film-forming aq. paste made from a flour from the seed kernels of galactomannans and/or derivs. of such flours. The textile web base is esp. of cotton or linen fibres and may be stiffened with a dressing of natural dextrin, esp. potato dextrin. The coating paste is esp. of guar flour, cassia flour, 2:1 to 1:1 mixts. of guar flour and cassia flour, or locust bean flour. The paste may also contain an aq. beeswax dispersion, e.g. where the coating contains 80-120 wt.% beeswax w.r.t. the total amt. of galactomannan pith flour. The coating may contain an addn. of or be overcoated with propolis (sic.). USE/ADVANTAGE - The blinds are made entirely from natural, renewable materials so that their prodn. and use e.g. as sight screens, sun protection screens, etc., does not use non-renewable raw materials and disposal presents no ecological problems.
