PROCESS FOR THE PREPARATION OF FLUORESCENT WITH RED LUMINESCENT

The europium-activated yttrium oxide red light emitting fluorescent material of Y2O3:Eu is manufactured by (a) mixing yttrium oxide (Y2O3) and europium oxide (Eu2O3) with 2-6 wt.% sodium carbonate (Na2CO3), 2-6 wt.% sodium fluoride (NaF2) and 0.5-1.0 wt.% boron oxide (B2O3) w.r.t. 100 wt.% Eu2O3, (b) firing the mixture at 1300-1400 deg.C for 2.5 hr, and (c) washing the obtd. fluorescent material and drying it. The fluorescent material has an improved luminance.
