The present invention relates to a bicycle saddle stem device which makes it possible to facilitate cycling when going very steeply uphill or downhill. The device represented in Figure 1 includes a saddle stem articulation made up of a bearing bush (1) about which there is articulated, in the sagittal plane, a ring (2). The part of the saddle stem (3) which goes to the saddle is fixed to the ring (2). The part of the saddle stem (4) which goes to the frame is fixed to the bearing bush (1). The bearing bush (1) includes a hole (5) which allows passage for a locking finger (6). The ring (2) includes three holes (7), one vertical with respect to the axis of rotation for the normal position, a second one inclined by ten to twenty degrees forwards with respect to the axis of rotation for the uphill position, and a third, inclined by ten to ninety degrees rearwards with respect to the axis of rotation, for the downhill position. The locking finger (6) is held in the holes (7) by a spring (8) in compression contained in the bearing bush (1). This locking finger (6) is actuated by a lever (9) placed on the handlebars of the bicycle which acts by means of a cable (10) which passes into a sheath (11) which makes it possible to manoeuvre the saddle forwards or backwards. A spring (12) in the form of an elastic ring is placed around the saddle stem (4) in order to act as a stop for the ring (2). The device is particularly intended for facilitating cycling on all terrains. <IMAGE>
