New thiazolo-pyrimidine di:one derivs. for treating arteriosclerosis - e.g. 6-(2-cyano-propyl)-2,3,5,6-tetra:hydro-thiazolo-(3,2-C)-pyrimidine-5 7-di:one

Pharmaceuticals contain a thiazolopyrimidine dione of formula (I). R1 is H, 1-5C alkyl, (w-1)(3-5C)alkenyl, (w-1)(3-4C)- alkynyl, w-cyano (1-5C)alkyl, (w-1)-cyano (2-5C)alkyl, w-methoxy (1-3C)alkyl, w-ethoxy (1-3C)alkyl, (w-1)-oxo-(3-4C)alkyl or (w-1)-hydroxy(3-4C)alkyl; R2 is H, 1-3C alkyl or p-chlorobenzyl; n is 0-1. Thiazolopyrimidine dione derivs. (Ia) of formula (I) excluding those cpds. in which R1 is H, R2 is H or Me and n is O are also claimed. USE/ADVANTAGE - In the prophylaxis and therapy of arteriosilerosis, esp. if dyslipoproteinaemia is an underlying factor. (I) increase HDL cholesterol and simultaneously reduce LDL cholesterol levels and to a certain extend also VLDV triglycerodes. Thus they favourably influence all atherogenic constellations of serum lipoproteins. Suitable oral daily doses are 100-500 (esp. 100-300)mg.
