The bar code stamp is alphanumerical adjustable and can have any number of information characters in the bar code region. The stamp has bar code stamp bands (2) arranged adjacent to each other without gaps. Gaps on the bands are also used as information. The stamp can mark both sides of a letter. After it has stamped a letter the stamp springs back into its starting position, thus activating the inking roller (11) before each stamping process. ADVANTAGE - Printing of bar codes onto postal items can either be performed at home or in office.
