Treatment comprises treating waste water contg. organic cpds. simultaneously with H2O2 and O2 or O3 in the presence of a soluble catalyst capable of forming O-contg. radicals selected from Fe or Mn salts of formulae (O(FeIII)2M++(acetate)6(H2O3) (I) or (O(Fe(III)3(acetate)6(H2O)3)X (II). In formulae, M is Fe(2+) or Mn(2+) and X is a monovalent anion. Amt. of H2O used is 0.2-0.95 (0.5-0.95) vol.% w.r.t. waste waters. The O2 is in the form of air used in amt. of 0.05-0.5 m3/m3 waste waters. The air is fed to a gas content of 0.05-0.2 in the region of waste waters stream speed of 1-10 m/sec., or it is fed with an empty pipe speed of 1-10 m/sec. at a waste waters stream speed of 0.5-5 (1-3) m/sec.. USE/ADVANTAGE - The process is partic. used for treating water contaminated with amines and (poly)phenols. The process allows oxidn. of difficulty decomposable contaminants in waste water to be achieved with a reduced amt. of H2O2)
