The platform of a pallet lift is mounted on a cross-beam (5) with end guide members (1) running on upper and lower rollers (4, 4') in U-section vertical rails (2). Movable along a guide member is a slide block (6) with an upwardly directed braking wedge whose leading end (9) can wedge between the roller (4) and one side of the vertical rail (2). The lifting cable or chain (14) passes round a bottom guide pulley (13) and is secured to the slide block (6), which rests against a stop (11). Between the slide block and upper end of the guide member is fitted a tension spring (10). USE/ADVANTAGE - Simple, low-cost mechanical brake for platform of pallet lift is inherently reliable and easy to maintain.
