Inside a suitable casing (7) containing an explosive charge (8) is a shotgun cartridge with a rounded lead nose (1) on a shallow part-conical intermediate part (2) and a cylindrical part (3). The surface of the cylindrical part incorporates grooves (4) sloping at an angle to the central axis (LL). The grooves, which are separated by much wider projecting parts (5), slope in the opposite direction to that of the rifling in the shotgun barrel. The cartridge is supported by a spacer (6) on the wad above the explosive charge. USE/ADVANTAGE - For rifled gun barrel,with a facility to adapt to various tolerances.
