The suspended filing system comprises files, each with a suspension fitting (8) in the top edge (3') at right angles to the back. The fitting forms a recess engaged by the tongue of a support bracket, engaging in a slot formed in it. The slot (11) is of stepped cross-section, with three parts of different widths. The bracket tongue is correspondlingly profiled, forming faces bearing agaisnt opposite sides of the different parts of the slot.
