PURPOSE:To recognize a position accurately even in an IC having short leads, and to mount the IC positively on a printed board. CONSTITUTION:The plane shape of an IC 11 is picked up by a CCD camera 16 during a time when an IC 11 is carried while it is sucked and fixed to a robot head 15. A binary-coding process and an expansion process are carried out by a visual recognition controller 18 on the basis of the sensed image data and the position of the IC 11 is detected, and the position of mounting of the IC 11 is corrected on the basis of the result of the detection. A11 data of eight picture elements adjacent to a picture element having dark section data '1', in which there is the IC 11, are rewritten to the dark section data '1' regarding the picture element in the picture elements of image data in the expansion process, and the lead shapes of each lead section 13a or 13d are lost by repeating the rewriting, thus acquiring an extract image. |
