PURPOSE:To double the period of a sequence number without changing bit number by repeating the increment and decrement of a sequence number string so as to reciprocate the sequence number between a maximum value and a minimum value. CONSTITUTION:A transmitter 11 uses a shift register 13 and an up-down counter 14 to generate a string of a sequence number so as to reciprocate the sequence number between a maximum value and a minimum value to a string of a transmission packet. The comparison retrieval circuit 17 of a receiver 12 compares the content of an up-down counter 18 with the sequence number of a packet received and obtained from a shift register 15 and uses the value of a register 16 to obtain an abort number by obtaining to which position of a series of sequence number strings the two consecutive sequence numbers received by using the register 16 are located.
