PURPOSE:To provide permanent magnet which allows high saturation magnetization and curie temperature by previously manufacturing a porous sintered body of specific density and nitriding the sintered body. CONSTITUTION:Rare earth-iron alloy expressed by the general expression RxFe100-x (R is at least one of rare earth elements which includes Y, 5<=X<=20) is cast, powdered and formed. Then, the alloy is temporarily sintered so as to permit the density to be 5.0-7.0g/cc and nitriding process is performed in nitride gas or ammonium gas at 300-650 deg.C. Thus, the bulk rare earth-iron- nitrogen permanent magnet which allows high saturation magnetization and curie temperature is manufactured. |
