PURPOSE:To execute printing with much higher picture quality to both character part and graphics part without increasing the memory capacity of a video RAM. CONSTITUTION:An engine part 18 compares the peripheral dot patterns of respective dots in character part data from a controller part 20 with plural dot patterns decided in advance. Based on the result, pulse width modulation is executed to the attention dot, and power modulation is executed to graphics part data by changing the light emitting power of a laser diode 41 so as to gradation. While a signal CONT from the controller part 20 is in a high level state showing a state under transferring the character part data at present, ON/OFF control is executed to the laser diode 41 according to the signal to which the pulse width modulation is executed. While the signal CONT is in a low level state showing a state under transferring the graphics part data at present, the ON/OFF control is executed to the laser diode 41 according to the signal to which the power modulation is executed. |
