Isomerisation of propylene oxide to allyl:alcohol

Isomerisation of propylene oxide to allylic alcohol in the presence of lithium phosphate catalyst is claimed. The catalyst is prepd. by (a) mixing aq. soln. of phosphoric acid salt with soln. of LiOH in the presence of silica having high surface area, to ppte. lithium phosphate on the surface of the silica; (b) washing with water and drying. The final prod. contains wt. ratio of lithium phosphate:silica of 1-0.05 pref. 0.8-0.15. The isomerisation is at 200-275 deg.C in fixed or fluidised bed reactorol
