The bitumen emulsion is of an anionic or cationic type and contains 50-75% (wt./wt.) bitumen with a penetration between 5-45. The fibres are subjected to processing for reducing lump formation in a mixer for forming small balls prior to having an overcoat of bitumen emulsion. The treatment for reducing lump formation is effected in the presence of an anti-lump forming or anti-adhesion medium which is mixed with the fibres in an amt. of upto 150% (wt./wt/.) and pref. upto 30% (wt/wt.) calculated on the wt. of the fibres. The fibres and the bitumen emulsion are mixed with each other in a pref. ratio of 20-110 pts.wt. bitumen emulsion with 100 pts.wt. fibres. The fibres with an overcoat of bitumen emulsion and dried and further processed for application of a coat of anti-lump forming or anti-adhesion medium. |
