PURPOSE:To cause deformation of the end face portion of a cover when an air bag swells and to facilitate and quicken the opening movement of the cover by forming a vacant portion between the end face portion of the cover which is opened like double doors when the air bag swells, and the opposite portion of a covering portion to the end face portion. CONSTITUTION:The rear end portion 32c of a cover 32 and the opposite portion 33a of a covering portion 33 opposite to the rear end portion 32c are separated from each other to form a vacant portion 48 between the rear end portion 32c and the opposite portion 33a. Therefore, when an air bag 37 swells, the rear end portion 32 of a rear cover piece 55 is deformed rearward, and the rear cover piece 55 is turned in the direction of an opening and opened. Then the opening movement of the rear cover piece 55 is facilitated and quickened so that adjustment of the swelling performance of the air bag 37 is facilitated. Also, a protruding streak 52 which is provided protrusively from the rear end portion 32d of an upper face portion 32b is rotated downward and enters the vacant portion 48 as the upper face portion 32b moves, so that the rear end portion 32c is freely deformed. |
