PURPOSE: To provide an intraocular endoscope that is useful in that the inner areas of the eye, e.g. a ciliary body ring area, a ciliary process, and the rear of the iris, are photocured by providing an illumination guide, an image guide, and a laser guide which constitute a single functional component inside the tubular interior wall of a probe. CONSTITUTION: A handle part 10 and a probe 12 are coupled through a flexible cable 1 to a connector 16 to which an eyepiece 18 is optically coupled, and a flexible cable 20 is also coupled thereto. Three sets of optical fibers are placed within the probe 12, the handle part 10, and the cable 14, and monofilament laser fibers 22, an image guide 24, and an illuminating part 26 are provided inside the probe 12. To provide illumination at a control part, light is transmitted below the illuminating part 26 in such a way that the light appears at the distal end of the probe 12. An image of an illuminated area is transmitted backward through the image guide 24 so as to be observed with the eyepiece 18. Using the probe 12 at a predetermined position, a surgeon adjusts the transmission of laser energy to a control region through the fibers 22. |
