Motor oils having a high dispersing capability, based on known, commercially available lubricating oil compositions and a supplemental additive which is a copolymer of 80 - 99.5 parts by weight of C6 - to C24-alkyl(meth)acrylate and 0.5 to 20 parts by weight of C2- to C6-hydroxyalkyl(meth)acrylate and/or a polyalkoxy(ether)ester of (meth)acrylic acid.
