PURPOSE:To efficiently obtain a polysaccharide having characteristics of homopolymer of glucose by culturing a marine hydrogen assimilating bacterium belonging to the genus Hydrogenovibrio in the presence of a culture gas containing H2, O2 and CO2 and separating polysaccharides from the culture solution. CONSTITUTION:A marine hydrogen assimilating bacterium (Hydrogenovibrio- marinus) belonging to the genus Hydrogenovibrio is inoculated into a medium, a mixed gas having a volume ratio of H2: O2: CO=8:1:1 is introduced into the medium, shaking culture is started at 37 deg.C under 1,000rpm stirring rate while adjusting the medium to pH 6.5 with 6N ammonia. The culture is carried out for 53 hours, the culture solution of cells is heat-treated at 90 deg.C for 10 minutes, diluted with distilled water, the cells are collected by centrifugal separation, homogenized under cooling with ice, centrifuged to collect a supernatant liquid, ethanol is added to the supernatant liquid and formed precipitate is separated, washed and dried to give the objective polysaccharide comprising glucose polymer. |
