PURPOSE:To facilitate the handling of starting materials and to easily prepare a homogeneous sol which does not form a precipitate. CONSTITUTION:When Al-contg. glass and ceramics are produced by a sol-gel process, aluminum formoacetate [Al(OH)(OOCH)(OOCCH3)] is used as a starting material for Al and water or an org. solvent having >=34 dielectric constant is used for preparing a sol. The prepd. sol is allowed to gel, and it is dried and sintered to obtain glass or ceramics. |
