Process for the manufacture of a solid fuel material from urban and/or industrial and/or agricultural waste. The said waste, which is free from contaminating metallic materials and glass, is ground to obtain a granulated or stick-shaped product which contains quicklime combined with the original water to form a calcium hydroxide which is as little carbonated as possible during the process and the treatment with steam at pressures of between 1 and 20 atmospheres. A subsequent drying is then performed with CO2-free hot air at temperatures of between 100 and 200@C so that the moisture decreases in relation to the original moisture from 1.5 to 1% by weight.
