<p>PURPOSE: To efficiently and inexpensively obtain paper, etc., with superior smoothness by coating paper, etc., with a coating agent comprising acrylic acid, bisacrylamidoacetic acid and crosslinking polymer respectively specified at the specified proportions. CONSTITUTION: Paper and cardboard are coated with a water-insoluble crosslinking polymer as a coating agent, wherein the coating agent contains in the polymerized state, in molar proportions, (A) 50-99.95% of acrylic acid at least 70% of which is in the form of ammonium acrylate, (B) 0.005-0.5% of bisacrylamidoacetic acid which has about the same neutralization ratio as acrylic acid, and (C) the remainder (for complement to 100%) of acrylamide. The polymer is preferably contained in an auto-reversible water-in-oil emulsion having an average particulate size of less than 20μm. Further, it is preferable to use the polymer of 0.05-100 wt.% based on the weight of the dried solid in the coating coloring agent.</p> |
