METHOD AND APPARATUS FOR ATTACHING INSERT PANELS TO CARTON BLANKS

An apparatus and method for attaching insert panels (60) to carton blanks (10). A carton blank folder (304) folds an end panel (41, 43) of the blank while inverting the blank end-for-end in its direction of movement. At a station along a path (141) of the blank, an insert panel applicator and registration assembly move an edge (61) of the insert panel (60) into abutment with the folded panel (41, 43) of the blank (10). The insert panel is thereby adhesively attached to the carton blank for subsequent manufacture into a reinforced carton.
