The anti-theft device uses a pair of cooperating blocking elements (18, 34), respectively associated with the vehicle ignition switch and the gear selection lever. The ignition switch blocking element (18) comprises an angle lever supported in a housing for rotation about a pivot pin (20), under control of a cam surface (14) of a rotor (12) coupled to the cylinder of the ignition switch. A rolling friction is provided between the cam surface of the rotor and the blocking element (18). Pref. the blocking element incorporates a roller (24) acting against the cam surface. USE/ADVANTAGE - Improved functional reliability, disabling vehicle when ignition switch is removed.
