Filter plate for a filter press has filter plates which are clamped together to form filtration chambers. Each carries one or both sides of a flexible or part flexible press wall which is able to move under the influence of a pressurised medium. The filter plate has a retaining wall and a sealed frame-plate holding the press wall against the retaining wall and forming a pressure chamber for the pressurised medium between the press wall and the retaining wall. Between the retaining wall and press wall is arranged a separating wall extending essentially parallel thereto, sealed closed in the region of the frameplate, which forms a pressure chamber on its side facing the retaining wall and a Hot/Cold chamber on its side facing the press wall. USE/ADVANTAGE - Filter plate which can be heated or cooled during use to effect changes in the properties of the material being filtered e.g. reduction of viscosity to increase the filtration rate or washing efficiency etc.
