The counterweight (1) comprises four segments which are adjustable for dynamic balancing. A casing (2) supports the roller cover and is rotatably located (3). An eccentric shaft (4) is motor-driven at several thousand rev/min. The casing/roller when functioning slowly rotates automatically counter to the eccentric rotation direction. Within the eccentric is a drive shaft. Only one drive is provided for the fast-running eccentric shaft and a redn. gear is provided for the slow drive of the casing/roller. The roller has at least one non-rotating surface for compression/compacting.
