A method for preparing alkyl tertiary-alkyl ether from tertiary alkyl alcohol and C<5>-C1/4 primary alcohol in one-step which comprises reacting the tertiary alkyl alcohol and primary alcohol in the presence of a catalyst comprising a fluorocarbon sulfonic acid polymer on an inert support at an elevated temperature and moderature pressure.
