In a closure such as a sash window, the sash 11 can be locked to the frame 10 by a locking mechanism such as an espagnolette system in which a locking bar 16 projects from the sash into a vertical frame member 13. To prevent disengagement of the locking bar if the sash and frame are levered apart, a keeper 17 is provded which is carried on the frame at a corner of the frame which engages with a projection 28 on the sash. In this way, the sash and the frame are locked together so that any movement of the frame is transmitted to the sash, so resisting their separation. In addition, the keeper includes the aperture 23 which engages the locking member 16 and is not connected to the vertical frame member. In this way, movement of that vertical frame member is not transmitted to the keeper again preventing the locking member being sprung out of the aperture. <IMAGE> |
