PURPOSE:To prevent reduction of a life of a fuel cell by preventing generation of wetting of more than necessary at an electrode if stoppage and operation are performed repeatedly. CONSTITUTION:A multi-layer stack structure is formed of unit cells 1 composed of an anode plate 4 and a cathode plate 4 having an electrolyte matrix layer 6 and separators 3 provided between them. The electrolyte matrix layer 6 is composed of a fine porous structural layer 6a and a porous structural layer 6b coarse than the porous structural layer 6a, and the coarse porous structural layer 6b is communicated with an electrolyte sump 13 provided on the outer side of the unit cell 1. |
