PURPOSE:To provide the title composition excellent in flame retardancy, mechanical properties and flame retardant acceptability, thus suitable for the outdoor materials in the civil engineering/construction industry (e.g. electric wires). CONSTITUTION:The objective composition can be obtained by incorporating (A) 100 pts.wt. of a copolymer <=30 deg.C (pref. <=10 deg.C) in glass transition temperature and 0.005-20dl/g in intrinsic viscosity, produced by copolymerization between (1) a cyclic olefin (e.g. norbornene, 5-methylnorbornene) and (2) an (alpha-olefin (e.g. ethylene, propylene) with (B) 5-250 pts.wt. of a flame retardant (e.g. magnesium hydroxide, tetrabromoethane, trimethyl phosphate), and, if necessary, (C) 1-100 pts.wt. of a thermoplastic elastomer and/or (D) a polyolefin resin. The other objective electric wires can be produced by coating the original wires with this composition. |
