PURPOSE:To provide an extremely effective method for efficiently and stably producing industrially useful ethyl acetate in the liquid phase by using a heterogeneous catalyst. CONSTITUTION:Ethylene is reacted with acetic acid in the liquid phase under pressure of the ethylene by using a solid catalyst, having part of protons, possessed by phosphotunstic acid and substituted with cesium metallic cations and insoluble in the reactional phase as a catalyst to produce ethyl acetate. Since the catalyst is a heterogeneous catalyst, having extremely high reactional activity and insoluble in the reactional phase, recovery is facilitated and the method is suitable as an industrial method for production. Furthermore the reactional selectivity is excellent and the catalyst has its life of a long period. |
