PURPOSE: To provide a quick and economical shadow test method for three- dimensional(3D) graphics. CONSTITUTION: A two-dimensional(2D) projection shadow test for a 3D scene is accelerated by superposing projections by using a plurality of scanning areas and testing the points and edges of an object entering respective scanning areas. When a certain point is included in the edge of the object, the point is discriminated as a point having possibility to be shadowed and the object including the point is discriminated as an object having the possibility of shadowing the point to be shadowed. A series of tests for quickly determining which object out of objects having the possibility of shadowing practically shadows the point having possibility to be shadowed are applied to respective object having possibility of shadowing. |
