PURPOSE:To reduce load a CPU and to shorten a processing time by reducing the number of instructions at the time of vertical/horizontal conversion of image data. CONSTITUTION:Eight data storing areas each of which can store data of 8 bits are secured by work areas W0, W1 to be used for vertical/horizontal conversion processing and these 8 data storing areas are properly used as data storing areas corresponding to the arranging direction order of horizontally arranged data strings each of which consists of 8 bits. As to a data group to be applied to vertical/horizontal conversion, respective data in the horizontally arranged data string consisting of 8 bits are transferred to corresponding data storing areas in accordance with the order in the arranging direction, so that a vertically arranged data string consisting of 8 bits is formed in each data storing area and the vertical/horizontal conversion of each 8 bits formed in each data storing area can be executed (steps 306 to 314). |
