The cutting device makes it possible for an irradiated-fuel reprocessing line (chain) to operate continuously. It principally comprises a series of electrodes (10) crimped into an annular piece (14) which itself is fixed between two flanges, a front flange (11) and a rear flange (12). An argon inlet is provided in the annular groove (15), into which groove the annular piece (14) is placed. A circular lip (17) placed between the electrodes (10) and the central passage cavity (19) is provided for preventing slag from reaching the groove (15) and damaging the device. Preferably, each electrode possesses an argon inlet. Application to the reprocessing of irradiated fuel. <IMAGE>
