<p>PURPOSE:To drive a thermal printer for a long time using a battery of a limited capacity as a power source. CONSTITUTION:When heating resistors 6 are electrically conducted in accordance with a latch register 3, gate circuits 4 are previously divided into a plurality of groups, and one line can be dividedly printed by selectively outputting strobe signals STB1-STB4. A power source voltage VP is read, and the number of division in printing is increased as the power source voltage is lowered. In this manner, a consumed electric current is controlled to be small as a battery is reduced in residual electric quantity and increased in inner resistance. Thus, a thermal printer can be used for a long time except that the power source voltage is lowered to be below the allowable lower limit.</p> |
