PURPOSE:To enable recording and reproducing in correspondence to the standards for CDs by forming a phase transition alloy thin film of >=2 kinds of specific elements as essential components and forming a low melting thin film of specific elements as essential components. CONSTITUTION:The optical recording medium 1 is constituted by successively forming the phase transition alloy thin film 3, the low melting thin film 4 and a protective film 5 on the surface of a substrate 2. The thin film 3 contains at least one kind of the elements selected from group 1B and at least one kind of the elements selected from a group 2B. The elements is preferably selected from Cu, Ag and Aw as the group 1B and from Zn and Cd as the group 2B. The thin film 4 contains at least one kind of the elements selected from Te, Se and S. The crystalline structure of the film 3 changes and the constituting elements of the films 3 and 4 diffuse to each other to form a compd. or alloy when the recording medium is irradiated with a recording laser beam from the film 3 side. The light reflectivity is thereby drastically decreased. Then, the recording and reproducing in correspondence with the standards for CDs are possible. |
